Yaketty Yak

Yesterday the Yaketty Yak people came to do a play for Harewood School. My big brother Isaac was in it. he was a bat and the rest of the people were a tiger, snake, goat, two bears, witch, mayor and a prince. The tiger was mean at the start but at the end she was so nice. My favourite animal was the tiger and the bat. Isaac picked the girls up.
I want to ask Isaac if he will pick me up and do a flip like he did in the play. Isaac can do a flip on the ground. Isaac is clever.
One time Isaac was giving me and Jack a good night cuddle in the dark and he was wearing a mask it was scary. He loves acting By Gracie

RUG SALE

Today we are enjoying our rug sale. Everyone had a rug with their buddy and we sold our old toys and baking or sweets. Me and Ashley made $31.20. Becky and Sammy earned $40. Room 8 made $316.10 altogether. The rug sale was very fun and we got to buy merchandise from each other. It was nice making little children happy. I bought 2 bracelets, cookies, gingerbread man and a CD. Becky bought lots of food and books.
Everybody bought things from the rug sale.

I 'm selling the things from our shop.

Becky is making bargains to make customers buy things.

Me and Ashley sell the toffees and other things. The customers buy the things in our shop.

Everyone is having fun at the rug sale buying and selling things. We have a lot of customers.

Hangi

We had to get logs and sticks so we could put them in the fire.  In the afternoon we had to peel the potatoes and the kumara.

We put the logs and sticks in the fire so we could make the fire burn.

Then we prepared the meat and vegetables and put them into wire baskets.

We let the fire burn down leaving the very hot rocks. After that we put the food in the pit with the hot volcanic rocks.

In the evening we took the food out of the pit.
While the food was getting ready we had a speech. The speech was blessing our new stone carving and saying thanks for Harewood School
                                                                         We sang songs together

This is Mr Briggs who helped us with our amazing carving.

Mrs Greenwood is thanking Mrs Gulliver for organising our hangi

the kapa haka group did some songs
Ashley and Elise said a karakia - a special prayer saying thank you for the lovely food.

Everyone enjoyed the food.
