Our favourite authors

My favourite Sri Lankan author is Janaki Sooriyarachchi.

http://www.tikiri.com/author.html

She write the story books in three languages.

They are English, Sinhala and Tamil.

I like her books.

She write them for children.

I had some English and Sinhala  story books write by the Janaka Sooriyarachchi.

Janaki Sooriyarachchi She wrote her first book, a ballad, when she was 8 years old and her first book was published at the age of 14. Since then, she has authored over 195 story books for children.

However, commencing her path in literature she came up with her 1st story book at a very young age, without having the slightest idea about becoming an author.

I like that book. It's name is Twinklinka. It wrote by  Janaki Sooriyarachchi. It is about a wonderful doll.

I have more favourite books. This is one of them. It's name is Kinduru dupatha. It is about a very kind girl and a mermaid.

This is her. She is doing a dancing. She is doing an Indian dance.

* Bharathanatyam   - Origin history and theory of Bharathanatyam. This is a special Indian dance. It's called Bharatha.

Wearable Wonders Trashion Show 2013

Harewood School held its own WOW show today.

Our learning intention was to:
Design and create a wearable artwork using recycled items.

We had to be able to:

· Describe what wearable art is.
· Plan and design a wearable outfit on a theme that uses art skills and elements
· Use a variety of recycled material in a creative and practical way
· Demonstrate problem solving skills and values when working together
Our theme was down the end of the garden.

 In class we talked about:
1.    What sorts of living and non-living things are found in or near a garden?

2.    What sort of items does your family throw out each week that could be used as part of a Wearable Wonder outfit?

3.    What would you have to do to all the recycled items if you were going to wear them?

4.   What other things would you have to consider when designing something to wear out of junk?

Room 8 and 9 comperes did a great job reading the description of our costumes off our cards.
