Saving the Sand Dunes

Yesterday morning at 11.30 on the dot room 8 started their fantastic adventure. We all went in a parent helpers car and drove off to Waimari beach. When we got there we had our lunch and then Chris the council educator walked us down to the beach. We made our own mini sand dunes with the people in our car and  found out that when you walk on the sand dunes it destroys them. The waves also wash the sand dunes away. Everybody needs the sand dunes so the sand doesn't blow on their houses. Plants help hold the sand dunes down. You should always use the walkways to get over the sand dunes so they are not destroyed. I learned that sand is made from erosion which happens when rocks clash together and little teeny bits of rock fall off and are carried to shore by the wind and the water. We were all very tired after our big day out but we all want to go on another trip now! Becky

the best part was when we wrecked the sand dunes pretending to be a storm. Conor

We enjoyed yesterday because we got to build our own sand dune and destroy the sand dunes that we made by hand. we all had groups to work in.
We loved decorating the sand dunes.
We got some things from Chris for protecting our sand dune.We got  2 bridges and 2 sand gates. it was so much fun. At  the end of the day we drove back to school and waited till the bell.
